For those who don't remember Pete----he was a rather skinny fellow with red hair and freckles.  He lived on 72 By-Pass and attended Oakdale.  Sweet boy with a great sense of humor.  Left this world before he had a chance to really live.  There is a memoriam to him in our 68 yearbook.  Here's a rose to you my dear friend.

Pete was a really sweet person with a good heart. In elementary school at Oakdale, you never wanted to make eye contact with Pete while the teacher was teaching because the next thing you knew you would be laughing at Pete and then when you got in trouble, he'd be sitting there completely innocently. I walked home from school with Pete many a day and I often think of him and regret that he died so young.

A great friend at Oakdale. We played many days at recess. When Pete died I remember that as my first real sad day.

Pete died in a car wreck on Ogden Road across from the new SC Department of Transportation building. I cross the bridge frequently and still remember about Pete. I always enjoyed the early morning talks with Pete and Jimmy Currence in the parking lot at RHHS.Steve Courtney

Pat Roberts (Clark -Class Of '67)

There were four of us growing up:  Diane (Class of 65), me/Pat (Class of '67), Pete (Class of '70), and Becky (Class of '69)

I'm Pat, Pete's "year-twin".  He was born on my first birthday - supposed to be a present I would never lose, break, or outgrow and he was for 18 years and 4 days.  It's taken many years to come to terms with his death and the anger it created.  It will take forever and a day to understand why it happened.

On behalf of our father, Ralph Roberts, we would like to thank everyone for the wonderful, caring comments and memories.  I printed and gave them to Daddy and he was so appreciative and asked that I thank you all.  I know if Mama were still with us she would have appreciated them, too, but then, I know they are together today in Heaven - she has Pete; we have memories.

Pete will forever be in our hearts and minds and we know he is with us in spirit every day.  I hope he still has his red hair the next time I get to see him!

Thanks for the memories - from Ralph Roberts and girls (Diane, Pat, Becky)
