I didn't know Pete well, but I remember hearing about his death. Since finding this website, and seeing his name, I've thought about Pete and I've tried to look at my sixth graders with a little more kindness. Pete's handicaps were seen by everyone, but everyone has handicaps--whether I can see them or not. I won't forget your life, Pete.

Pete was such a bright classmate who, in hindsight, tolerated so much more than most of us ever did on a daily basis during high school. I saw him some years later happily working in a book store that I thought he owned in Beaty Shopping Center. I am a better person now for having known Pete.

Pete was a great friend during school. I always admired him. I can still see his smile and laugh while at Ebenezer. I never remember him complaining about anything. I do remember how smart he was and he was always willing to help. I did not know he passed away until I looked here.

Roger, after seeing your comment I uploaded our 8th grade picture from Ebenezer on my profile. It includes two from this 'in memory' list - Pete and Sammy.

In hindsight, Pete and his parents were incredibly strong people. It can't have been easy for him in the public school system but he did it, and did it well.

I was saddened to hear about Pete when he passed away. I remember playing at recess with Pete when we were kids at Ebenezer and also going over to his house after school sometimes. He lived down the street from me and next door to Janis Dresner. He was such a sweet guy with a big heart.

Pete was such a sweet guy. He was very smart and always was interested in books. He had such a passion for working in the book store . He had a great love for his friends and treated everyone with great respect. I remember seeing him at the book store and he was always so kind to everyone. Because of him, many lessons of kindness were learned - a rose to Pete. Carolyn Hancock Finley

I didn't meet Pete until early in our senior year. For some reason, he was hanging out and talking with some of his friends in our homeroom one morning (Ms. Stambaugh's).  My first thought was, "Who is the world is that witty, intelligent, pleasant person?!" He was one of my favorites from then on. After I left RH, my mother would run into him occasionally and catch me up on his latest news. I was sorry to hear of his passing.

I always enjoyed Chorus because most of those times I sat beside a good bass. Pete Drake could sing with the best. I look foward to the day when I can join him again in a heavenly chorus. Steve Courtney
