Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Neely Hunter Sexton, Jr., 66, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his home.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 from 6:30-8:00 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.  A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Tirzah ARP Church, 6161 Mt. Gallant Road, York SC 29745 with Revs. Andrew Putnam and Garison Taylor officiating.

Neely was the son of the late Neely Hunter Sexton, Sr. and Freida Presswood Sexton.  He was a member of Tirzah ARP Church where he served as a Deacon and Scout Master, and was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Neely retired as a locksmith from Fort Mill School District.  He was a true artist who enjoyed painting, drawing and was a master carpenter.  He constructed musical instruments, which he taught himself to play, as well as building traditional wooden canoes and custom cabinets.  He loved music and was well-read, enjoying all types of prose. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, tinkering with his treasured TJ Jeep, and especially fishing.

Neely was preceded in death by his son, James Parker Sexton.  He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sheila Arnold Sexton; his daughter, Nicole Hunter Sexton of Greenville, SC; his son, Joe Thomas Sexton (Leah) of Rock Hill; four grandchildren, James Hunter Covington, Leigh Anna Covington, Parker Joye Sexton and Neely Harper Sexton; his niece Corrie Alewine (Tripp), and his brother, Patrick B. Sexton (Patricia and Kaitlin) of Rock Hill.
