What I guy! Terry had a smile that could deforst even that old battle ax English teacher.  What a nice fellow and it is a blessing that we all had Terry for the time he had here.  I had no idea Terry had passed away and it hurts. What a nice guy he was. Dave

Terry and I were born 9 days apart and we were cousins.  We went to church together, to school together, to ball games together and worked together.  Terry was a great friend always bringing a laugh and lending a hand.  Terry was strong: I remember him holding a 10 pound sledge hammer straight out by the very end of the handle even as a teenager.  He was adventuresome always and hardly gave a thought  over what might happen to himself - but always tried to take care of others.  He was a big part of getting me out more, which was a big deal to an ol' homebody like me!  He even helped me get my first job after high school.  Even as he fought with the cancer he was the Terry that we all knew.  He did not want to be fretted over and accepted responsibility for whatever happened - always thinking of others.  Terry will always be remembered as one of the best friends a person could ever have!

Terry was such a genuine and jolly person, and I liked him so much.

One day a couple years ago, I ran into a couple who are friends of mine, at a local restaurant here in Guyton, Georgia. (Glenda and I first met at work, and I learned some time back that her husband Phillip was from Rock Hill. We didn't know each other back then -- I went to Oakdale, and he was all the way over at Leslie!)

So we bump into each other at this restaurant about 3 minutes from my house, and Phillip introduces me to some of his family who are visiting from Rock Hill.

I ask, "Do y'all live in Leslie?" and they say, "No, we're from Newport."

And I say, "I knew a fellow from Newport -- I think he passed away a few years ago, but his name was Terry Alexander."

And they say, "He was part of our family!"

So Terry, your memory is alive and well here in Georgia, and I see your kinfolks on a regular basis.
