I did'nt know Doug in school. I got to know him just a few years ago and not only had I missed out knowing a very funny and quick witted guy, but found out he was a cousin. Doug and I had many entertaining conversations and got to know a kindred spirit. I will surely miss my new buddy. A rose for my pal.

I'm the opposite of John....I knew Doug in school but I'm not sure how often if ever that I have seen him since school.  He was a bright guy with a good sense of humor but that humor wasn't always obvious.  He also was someone that I am glad was my friend.  RIP, Doug.

Doug and I shared a few beers and whatnots in our early adulthood, post-bearcat days, thereabouts. We had reacquainted on Facebook this year and he never complained about health problems.

His wry smile matched his wry wit.

On a trip to Charlotte NC on a Saturday morning to purchase a motorcycle part for my younger brother Tommy. Doug rode with me in my 67 Impala; how he ended up with me on this particular journey is unknown. But, we laughed the ride up, and arrived at the store, and as I explained to the salesman what I needed for the motorcycle, my mind went blank...I couldn't remember the particular name for the piece. So I began to laugh. Uncontrollably. Doug began laughing too. The salesman began to roar in laughter with us. Lo and behold, I stuck my hands in my jeans pockets, and there was the note from Tommy with a drawing and the name of the piece! So Yeowzee!! I handed the note to the salesman and he disappeared laughing and reappeared laughing with the part in his hand and I paid up and we all shook hands. We departed...laughing and laughing and laughing.

A last pic of him on Facebook was a younger Douglas with his guitar in his hands. And a big smile!! Here's to you my friend...😎😎😎😍😍😍😅😅😅
